Video Footage Second Battalion 506th is an Air Assault Infantry Battalion under the command of Lt. Col. Greg Butts. We have a total of 800 Soldiers in our unit. Our mission is to close with and destroy the enemy. We are capable of deploying world wide within 72hrs. This means we are the soldiers on the ground, the grunts, the foot soldiers.

Our job is best depicted in movies such as Saving Private Ryan or HBOs Band of Brothers. We are a unique organization in the Army. Since the global war on terrorism began the Army has reorganized and established ME Brigades. We were one of the first established under this new system. No Infantry Battalion in History has done what we are doing. All of us were assigned to the unit at roughly the same time, we have trained together for a year and will deploy to Iraq together.

Over the past 4 months, our Battalion has undergone intensive training. This includes deployments to two of the Army premier combat training centers: The Joint Readiness Training Center at Ft Polk LA., and The National Training Center at FT Irwin CA in the Mohave Desert. We have six companies in our battalion. The three Rifle Companies are A Company nicknamed "Easy", B Company nicknamed "Baker", and C Company nicknamed the "Predators." We have one heavy weapons company, D Company nicknamed "Diablo." The Headquarters Company nicknamed the Head Hunters contains the staff and the scouts and mortar teams. We also have a F company called FOX they are responsible for weapons and vehicle maintenance and fixing broken stuff, as well as, a staff of truck drivers and the cooks.
